On chapter 3 in Thanksgiving on Thursday, Jack got caught in a trap. Some men came to help him and they got him down. A dog was barking at them.
Priscilla said to Jack and Annie to catch eels and clams. Jack caught an eel but it got away.
Priscilla told Jack that he could help with some soup and the turkey.
Priscilla said that some boys were going to do arm stretches. Jack thought that if they called him in he would have to do some arm exercises.
Priscilla left and said the arm exercises aren't for your arms they are for firing guns just for fun. Jack went back to doing the soup and turkey. Priscilla said to take out the turkey. Jack and Annie knew how to take out the turkey because they always help their mom at home, but that was a stove, not a fireplace. So Jack tried to take out the turkey and the handle was really hot so he let go and the turkey caught on fire and Jack picked up bucket on the floor that had water in it and he threw it on the turkey. When the fire went out the turkey was completely black. Annie went to get Priscilla. Annie said, "He picked up the handle and he tried to get the turkey off, but it fell in the fire and burned all up!" Jack said, "I ruined everything." Priscilla said, "No you did not. Come see." She took them outside and she showed them some ducks and deer and all sorts of food that was on a big table. She said there was cooking in that other house over there. When everyone was done cooking they sat down and ate. Jack and Annie said, "We can go home now." A little girl said, "But we did not teach you how to grow corn." Jack said, "Thou does not have to do that." Squanto, an Indian, said, "I will show you how to grow corn." He took them into a forest. Jack wrote down, "How to plant corn: oak-tree bud = mouse's ear" Squanto said to dig holes and put 2 rotting fish in each hole and Jack quickly wrote down, "2 rotting fish, 4 corn seeds Cover with dirt." Squanto gave them a pouch full with corn seeds in it. That was the last thing for Morgan.
